What a speech

Our President addresses the nation & world

He's HERE!!

He just arrived. One more hour to go. We're coooold! But so excited!!

The chorus sings

On the Jumbotron a chorus of high-schoolers. The band was fantastic as well.

90 minutes to go!

One more hour!

It's really cold but Kennedy's arrival warmed up the crowd! THE sun is trying to come out!

We made it! What a spot. Thank you Sen Reid! This is amazing!

Bundled up and ready to go

With my friend Stacey. Can you recognize us under all our clothes?! Six layers!!

The Metro for Change

Everyone is in a great mood. It's very crowded and we're not moving fast. But we are coming out into the morning of a new day, a new beginning, and a newly inspired nation!

We found the end of the line

The line for Silver tickets. All 12 of my crew and 100,000 of our closest friends! It took us a while to back-track to find it. Folks must have arrived EARLY!! We hope we're in by 11:30, three hours from now.

From the National Mall

This will be completely filled up tomorrow! I stopped by to wave at the MSNBC cameras. What FUN! Found some fun Obama gear, including a wool scarf and hat (quite helpful for tomorrow AM!)

This is amazing

Yes we did

From the back steps of the Capitol

The back of the Capitol

Sen Reid's Office

I met some folks from Vegas. We're so proud to be here representing the Silver State, which is now BLUE!!

I just got my ticket!!

This is incredible! I'll be by the reflecting pool in the silver section. Doors open at 8:00. People may attive as early as 5:00!! IT's amazing.Staff at senator Reid's office were so nice. The wait was @ 2 hours to get in. Even though the temp dropped, it wasn't too cold, and the crowd was friendly. The pic is of the main lobby in the Hart building where Sen Reid's office is located.

Reflections on Sunday

I re-read Barack's letter to his daughters and was reminded why I like him so much. It is reassuring to have a president whose decisions will be guided by a love for them and a commitment to their future and the future of their world. Quite a contrast from the administration of the past eight years who made decisions driven by unregulated greed, corruption and power. Not a surprise that we're left with the enormous mess we now have. As a mom, the identity that guides all that I do, I am thrilled to know that such a powerful leader has his children as his motivator and guiding principle.

Saw the Liberty Bell today. And we drove the same route as Barack and Joe to DC. What energy around us. 500,000 people at the campaign Lincoln Memorial today. And what a wonderful dinner reminiscing aboujt the connections between this moment and JFK. Stacey"s dad was the first chairman of the Burlington VT dem party in the '50s when VT was a republican state (yes it was once republican). What a gift to hear his stories.

On the trip

On my Way!
Another day of flying to a historic event. I am so thrilled to be going to DC to witness the start of a new era, hopefully one of peace, concern for the many, not just the few, and respect for the environment. We just took off from Vegas, on this sunny, beautiful Saturday. We are passing over the Grand Canyon - what an incredible sight! I'm really looking forward to seeing Stacey, a long-time friend from my Cornell grad-school days. Her family is having a reunion for the inauguration and on Sun evening have set aside time to gather to hear recollections from Stacey's parents about the JFK years and the similarities to his inauguration to the current historical moment. I am blessed that theyare letting me join them.
